FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 6, 2008
Phase 2 of the Diamond Peak Renovation
Project Delayed
Incline Village,
NV- Phase 2 of the Diamond Peak Renovation Project has been given a year
extension by the IVGID Board of Trustees. The second phase of the $7.5 million
dollar project includes a new Child Ski Center (approximately $2 million) and
ticket windows. The design schedule for Phase 2 moved from fall 2008 to winter
2009/spring 2010. The construction schedule for Phase 2 will move from summer
2009 to summer 2010.
Diamond Peak General Manager Ed Youmans said, “The delay
of Phase 2 will give us more time to plan it out and we won’t have to worry
about planning during this ski season. Also, the Child Ski Center will be a
whole new building from the ground up, so it’s worth dedicating more time to
make sure we do everything right.”
Phase 1 of the Diamond Peak Renovation Project includes a
$4 million dollar Base Lodge Renovation that started on May 1, 2008 and is set
for a completion on November 1, 2008. The total base lodge renovation includes
new restrooms in the Loft Bar area, a 300 sq. ft. banquet room, a new food
service counter, an outside deck with a stairway that leads to the bottom of
the lodge, an expanded rental shop, expanded Food & Beverage storage,
raised Loft ceilings with skylights, upper deck with heated paving stones, new
siding, new F&B offices, fresh paint, new carpet, new fixtures, and more.
Currently the project is on-schedule and on-budget.
Save the date
for the Diamond Peak Base Lodge Open House on December 6, 2008 from 3:00-5:00
pm. Check out the bigger and better base lodge that we’ll have for the 08/09
season! More details of the event TBA.
